It can be found in Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, and spends winter in the Yangtze River Valley and south China. It lives on water grass, seeds, corns, insects and aquatic animals. It multiplies in the period from Apr. to May. Normally, it set up nest at places away from rivers. A female normally lays 2 eggs and needs 1 month for sitting. It is now listed as an animal under national class II protection. |
