Spotted deer lives north and south regions of China and may also be found in Japan, Korea and Viet Nam. It mainly lives at the edges of forests, mountains and grassland. Spotted deer is a valuable animal. It is over hunted. With the ecological environment being destroyed, the habitat is diminishing. In natural environment, the number of spotted deer is very small. It is listed as an animal under national class I protection.
