Blue eared pheasant can be seen in Qinghai, Ganshu, Ningxia and Sichuan. It stays in cold mountain areas, and lives in groups in the trees and shrubs. It mainly lives on plants and inspects. It multiplies in the period from Apr. to June, and usually lays eggs on he ground under trees. It lays 6~12 eggs each time, and needs 26~27 days for sitting. It is listed as an animal under national class II protection.
