The garden covers a land area of 16,675m². Sweet osmanthus is an evergreen shrub of fragrant flower of the oleaceae. In the garden there three different kinds of osmanthus: orange osmanthus, silver osmanthus and red osmanthus. When flowering in autumn, the trees produce fragrance, which is carried to a long distance by the wind. Originally, sweet osmanthus was found in the Southwest and the middle of China. Now, the trees are widely planted in the Yangtze River Valley and the south of China. This plant grows well in warm and humid climate. It withstands high air temperature, but doesn’t withstand cold. The sweet-scented osmanthus flower is also a medicine that has the curative effect of resolving phlegm, relieving cough, producing body fluid and stopping toothache. Fresh flowers can be used for making osmanthus flower cake, sweets and wines.
